WHO WE ARE AND HOW IT ALL STARTED . . .

The De La Guardia Cigar brand began with a commitment to excellence, legacy, and celebrating life’s special moments.

Co-founder, Daniela De La Guardia is the first-generation American in her family; her mother born in Sicily and her father born in Cuba. She comes from a lineage of entrepreneurs and cigar experts. Her paternal great grandfather, Eliseo Gomez, learned everything about the cigars and was a lecturer for cigar rollers in Havana, Cuba. Her maternal grandfather, Joe Troia, was a strong business-minded man from Sicily with a methodical but “go for it” spirit.

Daniela’s passion for cigars began at a young age. Employed as a cigar sales specialist for a local cigar shop in Omaha, she spent hundreds of hours in the el humidor, teaching herself the history and art of cigars. The shop had over 200 cigars and she learned about each and every one.

That’s when fate met Daniela’s passion and her family decided to open a cigar shop to capitalize on the barely-tapped market in Omaha, Nebraska.

Wanting to serve quality hand-rolled cigars with premium tobacco, they hired a professional cigar roller from Casillas Cigars in Sacramento,California, who taught Daniela and her sister Lita the art of hand-rolling cigars. The De La Guardia family branded their first cigar, proudly called, Rico Suave, and then Daniela truly fell in love with the tobacco industry and trade.

Today, Daniela’s passion continues to shine through all aspects of Reserve De La Guardia Cigars. Still a family business, Lita hand rolls for demonstrations only to fulfill the novelty for the Midwest Region, the art of hand rolling cigars. Daniela and her sisters, Lita and Alessandra have their own unique suggested blends. Mikeil De La Guardia, son of Lita, who assists with sales in the tobacco products. Using Premium Long Filler Cuban Seeded Cigars Hand Rolled (hecho a mano) tobacco with blends from Nicaragua, Honduras and the Dominican Republic. Daniela personalizes and customizes each cigar to uphold their second-to-none standard.

With Reserve De La Guardia Cigars, Daniela is not only able to carry on her family’s legacy, she’s able to share her passion with others and have a little part in their special moments. Like a fine wine or bottle of champagne, cigars mark moments of celebration.
